My name is Helga Schmitt and I strive to educate dog owners that there are healthier and more natural approaches to achieving and maintaining optimum health for your pet.
I help dog owners understand that covering up symptoms with medications does just that; only cover up symptoms. To really help our pets become healthy again and to maintain health and vitality throughout their years, we need to understand that there are many ways of achieving this. We need to be willing and open minded to approaches that have been used for centuries on people, and how they are now being integrated and applied worldwide, to our pets in Holistic clinics.
My love of animals has been there right from a young child when we had numerous pets. Dogs were always a passion of mine as well as health. This interest in health and healing motivated me to become a Chartered Herbalist in 1994 while studying to obtain a degree in Nutrition in 1995. Afterwards, I studied and obtained a Certificate in Homeopathy. I continue to research and utilize numerous healing modalities to this day. I became a Certified Canine Hydrotherapist through training at Greyfriars Rehabilitation and Hydrotherapy Referral Centre in the UK in 2010, and I am registered through NARCH (National Association of Registered Canine Hydrotherapists).
Having witnessed first-hand what over-vaccination, repeated antibiotics, and countless prescribed drugs can do to our beloved pets; I chose to follow a more natural and effective way of dealing with my dog’s health and well-being.
What I learned from experience, research, my past studies and having the benefit of a Holistic Vet, changed my dogs’ life forever and mine!
My journey with them has led me through multiple cruciate surgeries, two devastating cancers, cysts, lymphomas, life-threatening infections, Cushing’s disease, immune mediated poly-arthritis, seizures, strokes, digestive disturbances, pica, cognitive impairment, depression and grief. My dogs’ have taught me amazing insights in the way of healing, unconditional love, the bond between human and animal, and how being in the moment is irreplaceable.
